Although unwelcome and potentially expensive, disputes are a fact of commercial life.

Combining common sense with commercial expertise, our team, headed by Karen Young, is flexible and assertive - resolving disputes effectively and efficiently, while advising on ongoing procedures to minimise future risk.

Our specialist areas include insolvency, property and construction, intellectual property and information technology disputes.

The key to our success is in our people and in the relationships we cultivate with our clients. The quality of our work is reflected in our ever increasing client base and repeat instructions.

The dispute resolution team covers a number of specialist areas of practice:

General Commercial - contractual matters including shareholder disputes and waranty claims on share and asset disposals, intellectual property and e-commerce disputes, defective products, debt collection and agency work.

Insolvency - acting for Administrators, Receivers, Liquidators, Trustees in bankruptcy, Receivers, Creditors (secured and unsecured) and Individuals in Voluntary Arrangements and Bankruptcy proceedings. Advising on preferences, transactions at an undervalue, retention of title claims, possession and sale orders, directors in disqualification proceedings.

Property - renewals and reviews of commercial leases, dilapidations, restrictive covenants and forfeiture.

Alternative Dispute Resolution - (“ADR”) there has been a considerable growth in the many forms of ADR not least because the Courts have been keen under the new Civil Procedure Rules (“CPR”) to encourage early settlement of disputes and ADR is seen as one of the ways of resolving an impasse between parties.

There are many forms of ADR, some binding, some not binding. The most popular forms deserve a mention here. They are as follows:-
