right to overtime confirmed
The Government has announced an agreement with the EU Employment Council which will allow workers to continue opting out of the maximum 48 hour working week. The Government has presented this as a “landmark agreement” which will ensure the continuity of working arrangements that have been in place for the past 10 years. The Government believes that it will provide a fair deal to workers without damaging Britain’s economic competitiveness or putting jobs at risk. Additionally, the Government states that it will preserve the flexibility in the labour market which has allowed the creation of additional employment opportunities in recent years.
