Opportunities ahead and a new Managing Partner at EMW
We’ve got some great news to share – we’re delighted to announce that EMW has appointed James Geary as our Managing Partner.
James actually began his career in law right here at EMW. He joined as a Trainee Solicitor before quickly progressing to Associate. Here he grew a wealth of expertise in commercial law and, after a successful five years as Head of Legal at The Wastepack Group, James came back to join EMW as Head of Commercial before taking on the role of Head of Business Development in 2019.
Doing things differently – the EMW way
At EMW we are a full-service law firm, and we pride ourselves on doing things differently – it’s not just what we do but how we do it that makes us distinctive. Across our offices in London, Milton Keynes, Gatwick and Brighton we work with a wide range of UK and International clients, and we do this by talking their language.
We think the same way as our clients, we have the same challenges, and see ourselves a business that sells legal services rather than the typical traditional law firm. We have a team full of talented individuals with real expertise in their field – and so we ditch the legal jargon take a genuine interest in our clients and their businesses.
It’s something that sets us apart in the market as James explains;
“EMW is an extremely strong business with fantastic clients and a dedicated and knowledgeable team. It is truly a great place to work, we have a real opportunity to build on our successes over the last 30 years – none of which would be possible without each and every one of the great people that I work with. I look forward to taking the firm forward as Managing Partner, delivering on an exciting and ambitious growth strategy.”
“The senior team and I remain focused on ensuring that EMW is providing our clients with the very best knowledge and support, while strengthening the USPs that set us apart.”
Here at EMW we have been working hard to build the team and the structures to allow us to drive growth for us and for our clients, to grab hold of the opportunities that change offers both them and us. With James as Managing Partner, EMW is in a fantastic position to realise these opportunities as Nick Lloyd, Chair of EMW explains:
“Given the rapid evolution of the legal market, we believe that EMW will best thrive under the stewardship and guidance of a lawyer and we’re reinstating the first Managing Partner role in nearly 20 years.”
“As a firm, we have attracted a pool of very talented people with whom I am very proud to work; James is no exception, and I am sure that he joins me in saying that we feel privileged to lead EMW at such an exciting time.”
The years ahead present an exciting time for EMW. We fundamentally believe people are our strongest asset, we build great internal and external relationships with our people, clients, contacts and networks who will be an essential part of our journey.
