EMW has advised the owners of long-standing client CAE Technology Services Limited on their sale to Boxxe, an IT services and solutions provider. CAE, a technology infrastructure provider and Cisco Gold partner based in Hemel Hempstead, has been a client of EMW since it advised the 2025 sellers and others on a management buyout of the company back in 2004.
Justin Harling, ex-CEO and selling shareholder had the following reflections on his journey with EMW:
“End-to-end, full service, complete lifecycle; all aspirations when setting out a relationship with a law firm, but with EMW the longevity of a relationship actually means something – it is a promise constantly delivered, not just espoused at the beginning and forgotten.
I know this from the experience of working with EMW for over 21 years, starting with a Management Buy Out in 2004 and culminating in 2025 with a trade sale exit.
Over the course of two decades, EMW has always been there to support on all matters, including refinancing, restructures, employment, property, dispute resolution, wider commercial, company secretarial, and M&A. Every single interaction is delivered to a wonderfully consistent high standard and with a customer intimacy built and grown by each person who has been part of the overall relationship.
It is one of those rare relationships that you know can always be called on, safe in the knowledge that there will always be someone to help and someone who intuitively understands how to approach a request based on hard learned knowledge of your business. It is not an accident that the first port of call, irrespective of the query, is EMW, because it makes sense to start with the best option.
The journey of growing CAE over a long period of time is testament to those people and organisations who have shared the same ambition, commitment and values. EMW have been at our side throughout and we will always be incredibly grateful for their guidance, support and empathy.”
Nick Lloyd, Chair of EMW and lead advisor on the sale said “We were delighted to be able to help Justin and Richard on the final leg of their ownership journey. In many respects, CAE represents a blueprint for the EMW corporate client relationship. Being with a client from cradle to grave allows us to refine and perfect our service as we get to learn more and more about what motivates them, and there are few better examples of that than CAE. It was a pleasure to see Justin and Richard realise their goal.”
The EMW team was led by Nick Lloyd and Hollie Tompkins, with support from Ross Hayward, Amanda De Bruyn, Megan Wright and Emily Dickinson (Corporate), Ian Sharrock (Banking), Batuhan Bikim and Chris George (Property), Sophie Clarke and Hannah Webb (Employment), and Liz Appleyard (Commercial).
