From Offer to Completion: How Long Does Conveyancing Take?

This is one of the first questions we get asked and understandably so!

There is no single answer because every property transaction is different.  The Government currently reports an average of around 120 days from an offer being accepted to completion.  Some transactions are considerably quicker; others take longer.

Timescales can be affected to the property chain, searches, mortgage offers, surveys, legal enquiries, leasehold information and how quickly everyone involved responds.

A good conveyancer will keep the transaction progressing and let you know when issues arise but beware of anyone promising a completion date before the legal work has been carried out.
