My offer has been accepted. What happens next?

Congratulations! But an accepted offer is only the beginning of the legal process.

Your conveyancer will obtain the contract papers from the seller’s solicitor, investigate the property title, order searches, review relevant documents and raise enquiries.

If you are obtaining a mortgage, your conveyancer will also need to consider the lender’s requirements and report to you on your mortgage.

Once the legal work is complete, your mortgage arrangements are in place and everyone is ready, contracts can be exchanged and a completion date agreed.

The important thing? Instruct your conveyancer as soon as your offer is accepted – or even earlier if you are selling.
